David Osbourne
Trustee (Community Experience)
David Osborne is, at his heart, a true English countryman—shaped by fields, fresh air, and the quiet wisdom that comes from a life spent outdoors.
A lifelong field sportsman and now a novice but enthusiastic fly fisherman, Dave has always felt most at home under open skies, where the rhythm of the natural world sets the pace for his days. These days, his passions have evolved into something more reflective: a deep appreciation for the land, the wildlife that inhabits it, and the simple joys found in the countryside’s quieter corners.
Never happier than when travelling through Scotland in his campervan, Dave embraces the freedom of the road and the wild beauty of remote landscapes. Whether casting a line into a fast-running river, taking a bracing dip in cold water wearing nothing more than his trunks, or settling down with a view of the hills, he values the unpolished authenticity of nature. His fondness for wild swimming has become one of his most grounding rituals—a reminder of simplicity, vitality, and the clarity that cold water can bring.
A man with a deep sense of community, Dave is equally defined by the people he surrounds himself with. He enjoys nothing more than a good pint and an honest conversation—whether in a village pub, around a campfire, or at a friendly kitchen table. His easy manner, warmth, and quiet humour make him someone people naturally confide in, and someone who listens well and speaks with purpose.
Central to Dave’s life are his cherished Springer Spaniels, loyal companions who reflect his own spirited energy and gentle nature. They are as much a part of his story as the countryside itself—bounding through fields, nosing through hedgerows, and sharing in every outdoor adventure. In recent years, Dave experienced a shift in his relationship with the land—one prompted by conscience and a growing respect for the creatures he once pursued. He stepped away from shooting, choosing instead to protect the birds he had come to admire. This change marked a quiet but profound realisation in his soul: that stewardship, compassion, and preservation mattered more to him than tradition or sport. It was a moment of honest reckoning, guided by the same integrity that shapes his actions in all areas of life.
Today, as a trustee, David brings this blend of authenticity, thoughtfulness, and lived experience to his role. He is grounded, dependable, and guided by a genuine care for people, community, and the natural world. A countryman in every sense, he embodies a calm, steady presence—and a heartfelt commitment to doing what is right.
