An Evening on the Story of Hook Manor
We are pleased to highlight another independent event hosted here at The Grange, presented by one of our long-established resident groups, the Pontefract & District Archaeology & History Society.
Their next talk at Carleton Grange will take place on Friday 19th December at 7:15pm, when renowned community archaeologist Dr Jon Kenny will speak about work he has carried out with the Howdenshire Archaeological Society at Hook, near Goole.
The evening will explore what both desktop research and archaeological fieldwork have revealed so far about the medieval moated manor site at Hook. The Sotheron family of Darrington Hall had known connections with the area and may have been involved in repairing or even re-locating the manor house in the 1700s.
Jon will likely tell us more…
Non-members are welcome (£4), and the Society’s annual Christmas buffet will follow the talk.
We look forward to welcoming you.
