West Yorkshire Astronomical Society
The West Yorkshire Astronomical Society (WYAS) is a friendly and active astronomy society dedicated to inspiring interest in the science of astronomy and space science among people of all ages and experience levels.
Based at The Rosse Observatory within the grounds of Carleton Grange Trust, WYAS offers engaging public events, educational outreach programmes, and opportunities to observe the night sky through quality telescopes.
What We Do
WYAS runs a busy programme of public open evenings, members’ nights, and young astronomers events, where visitors can explore the stars, planets, and deep-sky objects through telescopes and guided sessions. Whether you’re a complete beginner, a keen amateur, or a family seeking a unique experience, there’s something for everyone. Group visits and school bookings can also be arranged.
