Pontefract Camera Club
Pontefract Camera Club is a long-established photography club based at Carleton Grange in Pontefract, bringing together people who share an interest in photography and the enjoyment of learning alongside others.
The club meets on Thursday evenings from 7:30pm at Carleton Community Centre on Carleton Road.
Founded in 1920, the club has over a century of photographic heritage and continues to operate as an active, friendly and forward-looking group. Membership includes photographers working with digital and film cameras, from complete beginners through to more experienced photographers.
The club programme is varied and typically includes practical photography sessions, talks and demonstrations, image reviews, friendly competitions and occasional guest speakers. Members share knowledge and experience across a wide range of subjects, including composition, lighting, post-processing and presentation, with an emphasis on encouragement rather than pressure.
Pontefract Camera Club is actively seeking new members. Newcomers are welcome at any stage of their photographic journey and are encouraged to come along, observe a session and get a feel for the club before joining. The atmosphere is supportive and sociable, with learning and enjoyment at its core.
The club is affiliated with the Yorkshire Photographic Union (YPU) and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB), offering members opportunities to engage with photography beyond the local group if they wish.
For anyone looking to develop their photography, share ideas, or simply enjoy good company around a shared interest, Pontefract Camera Club offers a well-established and welcoming place to do so.
