A PLACE FOR EVERYONE ACCESS TO ALL THE GRANGE

Bridge Club

Pontefract Bridge Club meets at the Grange each Wednesday afternoon at 2pm to play Duplicate Bridge.

The Bridge Club at The Grange is a long-established and valued part of the life of the building, offering a regular opportunity for people to come together around a shared interest in the game.

Bridge is a game that combines concentration, memory and strategy with social interaction and routine. For those who attend, the sessions provide both mental stimulation and the pleasure of spending time with others in a familiar and welcoming setting.

The club meets regularly, creating a dependable rhythm to the week and a sense of continuity that is important to many participants. Players range in experience, and the atmosphere is one of mutual respect, patience and shared enjoyment of the game rather than competition.

Bridge sits comfortably within The Grange’s wider commitment to learning, wellbeing and connection. It supports cognitive health, encourages focus and problem-solving, and offers a social space that is calm, inclusive and purposeful. Like many activities here, its value lies as much in the relationships it sustains as in the activity itself. The Grange provides a setting that allows the club to meet consistently and comfortably, with attention given to creating a quiet, well-organised environment suited to the nature of the game.

Bridge is supported at The Grange because it brings people together regularly, encourages continued learning, and contributes quietly but meaningfully to the life of the building.
